So last night I broke another one of my roommate's glasses. I've broken four in the past year, two in the last two weeks. One water glass (tried to stack it, doesn't stack), two balloon wine glasses (both of those were trying to put them in the dishwasher), but this last one was pure clumsiness and it was a good glass. It was one of the pint glasses that he had etched with the name of one of his beers. Oops! And it was the only one he had left of that design. I just knocked over a stack of glasses while reaching for something in the dark, only the top one broke.

Well, drat. I thought it was one of the unmarked ones, since the intact bottom wasn't marked and most the shards I saw were also unmarked, so that was my initial report. Well, it wasn't.

So I watched THE TICK last night, all of the first season. Phew! That was intense. SPOON.

I also have a lot of crap on order. Something was supposed to be delivered yesterday (and was listed as such), but I didn't get it (though I was away from my desk most of the afternoon, so that could explain it). I should get it today. And more stuff later. IT'S LIKE CHRISTMAS, KIDS.

I might go down and get coffee from the possibly-German girl again. I will not ask what her accent is. That's like asking for directions or getting a divorce lawyer: it means you are not a man. If I knew for certain it was German, I might ask to make conversation, but I'm not in the habit of asking questions I don't know the answer to.

you don't already know the answer to: pretty awesome. I approve.

You can build the most elegant fountain in the world, but eventually a winged rat will be using it as a drinking bowl.

that's one of the things facebook is great for by gzt (4.00 / 1) #2 Wed Jul 02, 2008 at 12:04:59 PM EST
"aw frig, i may have to make conversation with this person, what are some things i can safely talk about?" so you have a list of questions you already have the answers to so you know that they won't go off on some crazy tangent about how their mother is suicidal or something.

You can also figure out how best to send someone off on a tangent in a group situation, then use that as cover to escape and evade.

there wouldn't happen to be a manual on this? by gzt (2.00 / 0) #4 Wed Jul 02, 2008 at 12:12:28 PM EST
this is a far different type of survival, evasion, and recovery than is covered in my manual, but I think it's slightly more useful.

The manual isn't complete yet by MohammedNiyalSayeed (2.00 / 0) #6 Wed Jul 02, 2008 at 02:21:52 PM EST

I still have to work out how I'm going to end it. The manual, that is. And/or life, since that is the product described in said manual.
